Before & After Care

Wait at least 6 months post isotretinoin (Accutane) use before your SkinPen procedure.
Allow 2 weeks after spray or self-tanning lotions before your SkinPen procedure.
Discontinue the use of topical products containing Retin-A, Retinol, or Vitamin A for at least 7 days prior to your SkinPen procedure.
Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours prior to the procedure. If you have been overexposed to the sun in the days preceding your appointment, please call to reschedule.
This procedure may not be performed on active breakouts, open lesions or cold sores.
If you are prone to cold sores, use prescription treatment before and after.
If you are on autoimmune therapy, ask your provider if SkinPen is right for you.

After your SkinPen treatment:

To avoid infection, use only Restorative HA Serum 2-3 times a day for 24 hours with clean hands.
Use a clean pillowcase.
Redness should subside within 24 to 72 hours.
Do not exercise for 24 hours after treatment. Avoid gyms for 48 to 72 hours.
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot baths until the redness has subsided.
After 4-5 days you can return to regular skin care products.
Do not use exfoliating products for 7-10 days.
Avoid waxing, facials, peels, lasers, and any other abrasive treatments for 2 weeks.
Continue avoiding sun exposure. Wear SPF daily and wear a hat in the sun.
Make sure you are drinking at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day.

Avoid IPL/Laser procedures for 2 weeks prior.
Wait 2 weeks after administration of neurotoxin injectables (i.e., Botox) or fillers.
Avoid unprotected sun exposure or sunburn at least 2 weeks before service.
Do not use topicals such as retinol, retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or hydroxy acids 5-7 days prior to the service.
No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis to the area for 5 days prior.
If you are prone to cold sores, use prescription treatment before and after.
Do not shave the face the day of the procedure.
Do not experiment with new products day of the service.
Not for active cold sores, active acne, rosacea or other inflammatory skin conditions.
Not for skin with piercings, open wounds in targeted area .

Use Restorative HA serum and the recommended post treatment products..
Do not apply makeup immediately after service.
Before bedtime on the day of service, use a gentle cleanser and tepid water to wash skin.
Avoid sweaty exercise, saunas, and swimming for at least 48 hours after service.
Avoid using exfoliants (including AHA/BHAs, Vitamin A, Retinol, etc.) for at least 3-5 days.
Make sure you are drinking at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day.
Continue avoiding sun exposure. Wear SPF daily and wear a hat in the sun.

Avoid clay masks, scrubs or exfoliators that contain AHAs (glycolic & lactic acid) & BHAs (salicylic acid) for 48 hours prior.
Do not use AlphaRet products, Retin-A or any other Vitamin A product, including retinoids or retinol for at least 48 hours prior.
Do not use self-tanning agents for at least 48 hours prior.
If you are prone to cold sores, use prescription treatment before and after.
The AlphaRet 30 should not be performed on sunburned or windburned skin.
Do not have facial hair waxed/lasered 48 hours prior. Avoid facial hair shaving 8 hours prior.
If you have recently undergone any other procedures such as microdermabrasion, microneedling, dermaplaning, laser resurfacing, chemical peels, botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, facial plastic surgery, etc., skin must be completely healed and normalized.

Generally, non-comedogenic makeup may be applied after each AlphaRet 30 treatment.
Avoid exercise (sweating) for at least a few hours.
Wear a wide-brimmed hat and use a mineral sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher, daily.
Do not use retinoid- or retinol- containing products such as Tretinoin, AlphaRet Overnight Cream, or other Vitamin A derivatives for 5 days .
Do not use other potentially irritating ingredients such as AHAs or BHAs for 5 days.
If irritation occurs, stop or do not resume use of products until the skin has normalized.
Facial hair should not be waxed for 48 hours. You may resume facial shaving the day after or when the skin has normalized.
Avoid the use of heat sources such as steam, saunas, professional or home hairdryers for 8 hours following.
